AYA’s Wellness-Health Coaching curriculum is trauma-informed and culturally relevant
What we do
AYA-Institute’s Certification Program is dedicated to producing competent, compassionate, and culturally aware health coaches who can meaningfully impact the health and well-being of their clients.
The AYA Wellness Coaching Certificate Program is designed to empower future coaches with a comprehensive, outcome-driven approach to health and wellness. Rooted in measurement-based care and holistic principles, the program supports physical and mental well-being. We expect clinicians to use evidence-based methods while developing a modality that aligns with their personality and worldview. Grounding clinicians in theories congruent with their personal, cultural, and professional identity makes it easier to acquire specific skills and drive measurable impact.
AYA’s Approach
Chronic stress is not just a mental burden—it’s a biological disruptor. In Africa, rising rates of hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease are increasingly tied to unaddressed psychological trauma and long-term stress. When the body is in a constant “fight or flight” mode, it triggers inflammation, weakens the immune system, and accelerates chronic disease.
At AYA, we believe that healing must be holistic. Our trauma-informed approach recognizes that behind every symptom is a story—often shaped by poverty, displacement, gender-based violence, and systemic inequity. Mental health cannot be separated from physical health.
By integrating stress reduction techniques, emotional wellness coaching, and culturally-rooted practices, we provide tools for real, measurable change. This approach doesn't just treat illness—it strengthens resilience, dignity, and community wellness.
